In a season of falling records, the Two Harbors-Silver Bay 400-yard freestyle relay team had one more in it at the Minnesota Class A meet Saturday, Nov. 16, in Minneapolis.

The relay team of Kaylee Overby, Riley Larson, Jada Larson and Kate Thomasen finished the race in 3 minutes, 38.25 seconds, breaking a record they set earlier in the season.

The team, one of the most decorated in the Agates’ history, set a number of program and section records this season.

The Agates finished 11 overall at the meet, about 12 seconds behind state champion Hutchinson, who set the state meet record with a time of 3:26.41.

Thomasen also qualified for the Class A finals, finishing 11th in the 100-meter freestyle in 53.82 seconds and 14th in the 50-meter freestyle in 24.97 seconds. Visitation’s Grace Hanson was the state champion in both events.

The Agates were sent off to the state meet in style Wednesday, Nov. 13, with celebrations at Two Harbors High School and Minnehaha Elementary School. The team walked through Minnehaha on their way out of town and received a banner acknowledging their undefeated record in 2019 in meets against only one other school.
