After two straight wins last week, Silver Bay ran into a buzz saw in defending Section 7A champion Carlton and section runner-up South Ridge.

The Mariners failed to produce any runs against Carlton pitcher Abby Mickle, who allowed just two hits and struck out two in a 15-0, five-inning win for the Bulldogs on Thursday, May 2.

Silver Bay senior Jessie Ketola had one of the two Mariner hits in the game, advancing all the way to third before the inning ended.

The game was moved from Silver Bay to Carlton because the Mariners' field was still covered with snow from a late spring storm earlier in the week.

Silver Bay also fell to South Ridge 9-3 in a rematch that ended the Mariners' 2018 season.

Eighth-grade pitcher Danika Thompson allowed five runs and eight hits over five innings will striking out three batters.

Senior Callie Klemmer collected a pair of hits for the Mariners in the loss.

Silver Bay (6-5) is scheduled to host Northeast Range at 4:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 9.
