Two Harbors got off to a slow start to its 2019 season with shut out losses to Duluth Marshall and Heritage Christian Academy.

The Agates allowed two goals in the first half to the defending Section 7A champions of the game Thursday, Aug. 22, first to Baamlek Haugen and the Maren Friday. Duluth Marshall’s Gianna Kneepkens scored twice in the second half to give the Hilltoppers a 4-0 win in Duluth. Goalkeeper Tricia Osbakken made 15 saves in the loss.

Heritage Christian Academy shut out the Agates 2-0 in a home game Saturday, Aug. 24. Two Harbors held HCA in check, trailing 1-0 until a goal with about seven minutes remaining put the game out of reach. Osbakken again made 15 saves.

"Tricia has been solid both games, facing lots of quality shots," Agate coach Tom Szendrey said.

Two Harbors had hoped to pick up their first win against Hibbing-Chisholm — a team the Agates beat in the 2018 section tournament — but the game Monday, Aug. 26, was postponed because of bad weather.
