North Shore junior Nate Bilben’s goal early in the third period lifted the Storm to a 3-2 win over Rice Lake on Saturday, Dec. 28, during the North Shore Holiday Tournament in Silver Bay.
North Shore trailed by a goal twice in the game, but each time the team rallied back to tie the game until Bilben’s goal gave them the lead at Rukavina Arena.
Rice Lake’s Jace Fitzgerald got shot past goalie Connor Sullivan less than two minutes in, but less than four minutes later, Ryder McMillen scored to tie the game.
In the second period, Bryce Bettingen scored at the 9:48 mark to give the Warriors the lead, but 39 seconds later, Sam Johnson scored a goal off assists from McMillen and Mitchell Svir to knot the game again.
Bilben put the game winner past Rice Lake goaltender Ian Krance early in the third period.
Sullivan and the Storm defense held the Warriors off over the final 15 minutes of play to secure the win. Sullivan finished the game with 33 saves.
North Shore also topped Red Lake 3-1 and fell to Park Rapids 3-2 during the tournament.
The Storm (5-6) are next scheduled to play International Falls at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, at Rukavina Arena.
