Hockey: Storm girls lose to Tigers

The North Shore Storm girls were defeated 2-0 by the Princeton Tigers on Thursday, Dec. 21, in Princeton.

The first-period play was skewed toward Princeton as they had 19 shots on goal to the Storms two, and it didn't stop there. Shots on goal in the second were 18-7 in favor of the Tigers.

Princeton's Maddy Peterson scored twice in the second period. Her first goal came fairly quick at 2:14 on a power play after Storm's April Velcheff got a minor for body checking. Peterson's second goal came at 8:11 at even strength on an assist from Kenzie Skuza.

The Storm were able to take more control in the third period, but couldn't come back from the two-goal deficit. Maureen Dwyer was in the net for the Storm with 43 saves and North Shore had 19 shots on goal.

The Storm girls (3-9) were scheduled to begin a three-day holiday tournament Wednesday, Dec. 27, in Waseca.
