Hockey: North Shore girls remain winless

The North Shore girls remain winless after 4-3 loss to the Hayward Co-Op Hurricanes and 5-1 loss to the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton Lumberjacks.

The Storm lost to the Hurricanes on Friday, Dec. 1, in Silver Bay by a late third-period goal by Hayward with two minutes, 43 seconds left in the game.

Hayward started of the game with three unanswered goals: two in the first and one in the second. The Storm came back in full force in the second half of the second period with Callie Klemmer getting three-straight goals in five minutes with assists from Cora Carter, Sydney Haugan and Jessie Ketola.

Unfortunately for the Storm, Hayward's Soile Doyle as able to squeeze one last goal in before the end of the game.

Lilka Mojkowski was in the net for the Storm getting 29 saves.

North Shore started off the scoring against Hayward early in the second with a goal by Emily Seipke at 56 seconds. That would be the only goal the Storm would get as CEC proceeded to score five unanswered goals.

Maureen Dwyer was in the net for North Shore with 40 saves.

The Storm (0-6) played Superior on Thursday, Dec. 7. Results weren't available by press time.

The girls will have a weeklong break before heading to the Cities to take on the St. Paul Blades at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, and Minnehaha Academy at noon Saturday, Dec. 16.
