Boys basketball: Mariners ride big second half to win

Silver Bay's Weston Monson, Riley Tiboni and Mason Ollman combined for 50 points, mostly in the second half, as the Mariners ran away from Wrenshall for a 65-47 win Dec. 20 in Silver Bay.

The teams played evenly in the first half, with Silver Bay taking a 28-27 lead into the locker room.

In the second half, however, the Mariner offense came to life, raining down 3-pointers and building a 17 point lead over the first nine minutes of the second half.

Monson led the Mariners with 19 points and Tiboni had 17, including four 3-pointers. Ollman finished the game with 14 points.

Wrenshall's Eli Krisak led all scorers with 21 points; however, no other Wren scored more than seven points.

Following a two-week holiday break, Silver Bay (3-4) is scheduled to play Cromwell-Wright on Thursday, Jan. 3, in Silver Bay.
