Basketball: Mariners fall to Lakeview Christian Academy

Silver Bay sophomore Mason Ollman scored 28 points and senior Jason Blood added 21, but the Mariners fell to Lakeview Christian Academy 70-64 on Thursday, Dec. 21, in Cotton.

Ollman hit eight 3-pointers, but he and Blood were the only Mariners to score double digits. By contrast, Jacob Easty led the Lions with 18 points, but he was one of five players to score at least 11 points.

Silver Bay trailed 34-33 at halftime and LCA's well distributed scoring widened the gap throughout the second half.

Other scorers for Silver Bay included Weston Monson with eight points, Riley Tiboni with five and Jared DeHart with two.

Depth has been a concern for the Mariners all season and was a factor in their first loss against Cromwell-Wright. Starters got into foul trouble and the Cardinals ended the game on a 25-3 run.

Silver Bay (4-2) knows who its strongest players will be throughout the season, but the challenge will be to develop some depth coming off the bench that can produce points when Ollman, Blood and Monson are not on the court.

Silver Bay was scheduled to play Onamia in the Ogilvie tournament Thursday, Dec. 28. Results weren't available before press time.

The Mariners play Ogilvie on Friday, Dec. 29, at 4 p.m.
