Basketball: Bott scores 35 in Agate win

Two Harbors junior Tori Bott scored 35 points and had 12 rebounds to lead the Agates to a 57-49 victory over Ely on Tuesday, Dec. 19, in Two Harbors.

The Agates fell behind 15-4 early, but then Carina Hebl hit a 3-pointer and Bott took over the game.

"She played with a toughness, urgency and confidence that I have not yet seen out of her," coach Chris Lemke said. "It was fun to watch her discover just what she is capable of accomplishing on the basketball court. I kept hearing myself say 'wow' under my breath."

Two Harbors shot a season-high 54 percent and combined with Bott's rebounding, there wasn't much leftover for the Timberwolves.

Erika Mattson led Ely with 22 points, but she couldn't keep pace with Bott's production.

Other scorers for Two Harbors included Carina Hebl with eight points, Katie Archer with five, Brianna Hiukka with four, Emily Olson with three and Tricia Osbakken with two.

Two Harbors also beat Duluth Denfeld 59-22, but stats were not available for that game.

Two Harbors (4-2) was scheduled to play Barnum on Thursday, Dec. 21. Results weren't available by press time.

The Two Harbors Invitational tournament is Wednesday, Dec. 27, at Two Harbors High School.
