A handful of runners from Two Harbors and Silver Bay are poised to make another run to the state meet after winning events at the Section 7A South Subsection meet Thursday, May 23, in Esko.

Two Harbors siblings Isaac and Grace Swanson each won individual races at the subsection meet, with Isaac taking the 3,200-meter race with a time of 9 minutes, 56.36 seconds and Emma winning the 800-meter race in 2:27.55.

The pair were both part of Two Harbors 4x800-meter relay teams that went to the state meet in 2018, but neither has qualified individually before.

Silver Bay's Alexxa DeQuevedo is also primed for her fourth straight trip to the state meet after winning the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles at the subsection meet. DeQuevedo won the 100-meter race in 17.55 seconds and the 300-meter race in 49.05 seconds.

In a bit of a surprise, Mariner junior Mason Ollman won the triple jump with a top leap of 39 feet, 4 inches, nearly a foot better than second place Michael Olson from Moose Lake-Willow River.

Two Harbors' relay teams also had a strong day. The Agates' 4x800-meter boys team and the girls 4x400 and 4x800 teams all won their events.

The teams will compete again at the Section 7A meet Thursday, May 30, at the University of Minnesota Duluth.
