Two Harbors shutout Hibbing-Chisholm

Two Harbors finished its regular season with a 2-0 shutout of Hibbing-Chisholm Monday.

Agate junior Sami Szendrey gave Two Harbors the lead in the 17th minute off a corner kick from Elisa Galyen.

Freshman Morgan Beardsley provided an insurance goal in the 58th minute off a free kick by Mia Harrington. Coach Tom Szendrey said four Two Harbors players got behind the Blue Jacket defense on Harrington's free kick and Beardsley scored on a breakaway.

Callie Bergerson made five saves for her fifth shutout of the season and the Agates took nine shots on goal, with Beardsley leading with three.

Two Harbors (6-6-4) played Esko Thursday in the opening round of the Section 7A tournament in Esko, too late for the News-Chronicle's deadline. The Agates tied Esko 2-2 in their only other meeting this season.

Jamey Malcomb

Jamey Malcomb has been a reporter for the Pine Journal since October 2018. He previously worked as a reporter for the Lake County News-Chronicle from 2015-2018. Malcomb is a native of North Carolina and holds a bachelor's degree in English and history from the George Washington University and a master's degree in education from George Mason University in Fairfax, Va. Malcomb moved to Minnesota in July 2012 and worked as a sports clerk and news assistant at the Duluth News Tribune.
