Cross Country: Storm compete at Hibbing meet

North Shore Storm sophomore Brenden Seipke finished 15th at the Hibbing Rotary Invitational Saturday with a time of 18 minutes, 35.1 seconds later. Seipke led the Storm to a 10th place finish in the Class A meet.

Isaac Swanson was 42nd, finishing 51 seconds behind Seipke. Leif Anderson was 51st in 19:50.3, J.C. Holman was 69th 46 seconds later and Kevin Viren finished the scoring in 79th with a time of 2:11.4.

Top Storm runners Jake Paron and Noah Smith took Saturday off following the heat and hills the weekend before at the Roy Griak Invitational. Both runners will be back for the Swain Cross Country Meet Saturday at Enger Park in Duluth.

The Storm girls finished 14th at the Hibbing meet with Malin Anderson leading the way in 53rd and a time of 24:23.4. Brooklyn Smith was 73rd in 25:50.1 and Robin Henrikson was 81st in 26:40.4. Chloe Blackburn finished 83rd about 9 seconds after Henrikson and Sidni Henderson finished the scoring for the Storm in 91th with a time of 28:44.1.

Jamey Malcomb

Jamey Malcomb has been a reporter for the Pine Journal since October 2018. He previously worked as a reporter for the Lake County News-Chronicle from 2015-2018. Malcomb is a native of North Carolina and holds a bachelor's degree in English and history from the George Washington University and a master's degree in education from George Mason University in Fairfax, Va. Malcomb moved to Minnesota in July 2012 and worked as a sports clerk and news assistant at the Duluth News Tribune.
