R-rated movies inappropriate for class

To the editor:

An R-rated movie in the classroom? Really? I can't believe that any responsible teacher or administrator would allow or request such a movie to be shown in the school, the content of which is in direct violation of school code. Further, I cannot understand why no mention of this issue was in our local newspaper — this something that the public needs to know about, whether or not they have children in the school system.

I agree with Ms. Whitefoot in her article in last week's Chronicle on sexual harassment. A movie, such as was shown, can do nothing but exacerbate the moral depravity of our society.

A 10 percent increase in principal salaries because they have greater responsibilities is certainly not warranted in this case.
