School Board declares seat vacant, appoints new member

The Lake Superior School District Board declared the District 4 seat as vacant at its meeting Tuesday in Two Harbors.

The District 4 seat, which cover Ward 1 and Ward 2 in Two Harbors, was held by Jamie Harthan. Harthan ran unopposed in the 2016 elections, but has not been present at board or committee meetings for months.

Pursuant to Minnesota State Statute, the School Board declared her seat vacant after reaching out multiple times and then appointed Cyndi Ryder to the District 4 seat. Ryder has previously served on the School Board and will fill out the remaining three years on the term.
