Sve elected to Association of Minnesota Counties board
Lake County Commissioner Rich Sve was elected to serve on the Association of Minnesota Counties (AMC) Board of Directors as second vice president.
As second vice president, Sve will be a member of the five-person executive committee and will chair the Board of Directors governance committee.
The committee is responsible for the board's strategic planning, policies and procedures. Typically, the second vice president will ascend to become the first vice president and eventually, president of the association. Each position is a one-year term.
Sve has served on the county board since he was elected in 2008 and is the current board chairman. As commissioner, he has served on numerous local and statewide committees, many dealing with land use, natural resources and the environment. Sve served as chairman of AMC's broadband subcommittee and was appointed to the Blandin Foundation's Broadband Strategy Board.
Sve was also a member of the Local Government Water Roundtable, which developed the "One Watershed, One Plan" pilot projects in Minnesota, including the Lake Superior North watershed district.
Gov. Mark Dayton appointed Sve to the Board of Water and Soil Resources in March.
