William Kelley Schools in Silver Bay will be closed from Dec. 16-20 due to a water pipe collapse.
"We have no water," Lake Superior School District Superintendent William Crandall said. "The water main for the city is in the street and it connects to the school and that’s where we had a collapse in the pipe, on the school side. So because of that, we had the city shut the water off for the school.
"Right now, we have construction crews up and they’re digging it up and we’re going to have to put in a new connection between the city and the school."
Crandall said the school hopes to have water by Friday, but classes will remain canceled for the week.
Staff are expected to return to the building by Wednesday or Thursday.
