The Two Harbors Public Library has established its own fund with the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation (DSACF).
"It will work sort of like the Two Harbors Area Fund," Library Director Kate Sundstrom said. "Where people donate money to the fund and the principal amount stays invested with the DSACF, but the interest gets to be used. It would be used to help cover library expenses."
Sundstrom said the fund would be used for items such as expanding the library's STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) kit collection or to bring in more performers.
To kick off the new fund, the library had a contract signing event Tuesday, Nov. 12. The library also received two checks to officially start the fund. The Friends of the Two Harbors Public Library donated $5,000 and the Barry Rackner Memorial Fund donated $1,000.
