Minnehaha students display many talents at variety show

Students from Minnehaha Elementary School took over the Two Harbors High School auditorium Thursday, Feb. 1, entertaining parents, friends and fans with a wide-ranging variety show displaying many talents.

The first-grade class teamed up to perform an original rap song about what they've learned so far in school this year.

Minnehaha faculty performed a "bobble head dance." The teachers had large versions of their faces printed to make them look like bobble head dolls and danced to a medley of songs popular during their own childhoods, including "U Can't Touch This," "YMCA," "Twist and Shout," "Macarena" and the "Cha Cha Slide."

Padme Bata entertained the audience with "Origami Drama" and Myla Lin demonstrated the "Big-A-Nator." Others read poems, played guitar, and performed comedy routines and a magic act. Clayton Haus nearly brought down the house with his performance of a dance to "Canned Heat" from the movie "Napoleon Dynamite."

Other students introduced the acts, telling jokes and keeping the audience entertained while their classmates set up for their performances.
