District 3

Candidate: Al Ringer + MUG

Occupation: Retired

Education: Robbinsdale High School and University of Minnesota

  1. I believe giving a student a good education is one of the most important things we can do in our community. I have experience in school transportation as a school bus driver and in school facilities as a custodian/engineer at the Two Harbors High School and the Minnehaha Elementary School.
  2. As a new school board member, I'm sure I will hear about many issues; but two issues that come to mind are the lack of classroom space at the Minnehaha, and the lack of adequate storage at the William Kelley in Silver Bay.
  3. The School Board will have to go through a process of gathering information, getting ideas and making the best decision.

District 6

Candidate: Mark LeBlanc + MUG

Occupation: Owner of Lil Dog Carwash

Education: University of Minnesota & Anoka Technical College

  1. I regretfully had to resign from my Silver Bay school board position because I relocated to Knife River. I feel like I can contribute to the school district and I enjoyed it when I was on the board.
  2. I am concerned about the increasing costs of operating and maintaining a school district. We also need to keep up with the fast pace of technology.
  3. I will listen to the concerns and advice of the public, students, staff and administration. I will sort out the facts and make the best decision.
  4. I would like to see students apply themselves and value their education. I also want students to further their education so they can support themselves in the future and have a positive experience.
