Clair Nelson scholarship winners announced

Friends of the Finland Community have announced the 2015 recipients of the Clair Nelson Vocational Scholarship. They are Taylor Haselow of Finland, who will be studying veterinary technology at Ridgewater College; Kayla Maleski of Silver Bay, who will be studying nursing at Rochester Community and Technical College; and Spencer Tiboni of Silver Bay who will be studying heavy equipment operation and maintenance at Central Lakes College.

The Clair Nelson Vocational Scholarship Fund annually awards scholarships to individuals who are enrolled (or in the process of enrolling) in a program focusing on a vocational degree or certification. Three scholarships of $350 are awarded. This scholarship is granted to adults and high school seniors in Lake Superior School District. Scholarship applications are available at the Two Harbors High School guidance office, the William Kelley High School guidance office, Lake County Human Services in Two Harbors and the Lake County Service Center in Silver Bay. Applications are also available online at www.friendsofthefinlandcommunity.org. The application period for 2016 is Jan. 1 to March 1.
