Lake View Hospital in Two Harbors is among seven critical access hospitals in the Arrowhead Region to receive technical assistance and support in working toward the creation of a mental health-friendly community.

The Minnesota Department of Health's Office of Rural Health and Primary Care, Rural Health Innovations is partnering with Wilderness Health Accountable Community Organization to convene with the hospitals and their stakeholders to create a vision of what it means to eliminate the stigma of mental illness.

Following the creation of their vision, each hospital will develop community-specific awareness and messaging plans that will educate the community on the coordination and integration of mental health services and reframe the story of mental health in a creative manner that resonates with the culture of each community.

Other participating hospitals include Cook County North Shore Hospital in Grand Marais, Community Memorial Hospital in Cloquet, Mercy Hospital in Moose Lake, Cook Hospital in Cook, Rainy Lake Hospital in International Falls and Bigfork Valley Hospital in Bigfork.
