The summer reading program, “It’s Showtime at Your Library,” will run from June 7 to Aug. 16 for children, teens and adults. Win prizes for reading.
Kids Program: Kids up to fifth grade can track the time they spend reading or being read to. For every 100 minutes, kids will earn an incentive prize (including awesome things like superhero masks, Dairy Queen Blizzard certificates and free books) as well as an entry into the grand prize drawing. We have five grand prizes this year including: farm animal puppets and books, a mega magic trick set, Lego movie making kit, Lego building kit and a learn-to-play guitar kit (complete with a real kid-sized guitar). When kids sign up for the reading program, they will also receive a Culver's bookmark, where they can track the titles of books they read and earn Culver's treats (limit of three bookmarks total).
Teens Program: For every 100 minutes teens read/listen to books, magazines, articles, fan fiction, etc., teens from sixth grade to recent high school graduates get an entry into the prize drawing of their choosing. There’s the Artist Pack, the Road Trip Pack, the Pokémon Pack and the Book Lovers Grand Prize of a $30 Barnes & Noble gift card. Every 1,000 minutes, teens get a free book. Teens will also be able to participate in the Culver’s Reading Program for free custards and kids’ meals.
Adults Program: Adults 19 and up are invited to participate in the Adult Summer Reading Program. For every book completed, whether it be a physical book, e-book or audiobook, participants can submit an entry for the grand prize drawing. We have three grand prizes this year which include a $50 gift certificate to the Rustic Inn and two 2½-hour private art lessons with Voyageur Artists. We will also be giving away two puzzles, two travel coffee mugs and two fleece blankets, along with weekly drawings for $20 Kwik Trip gas gift cards throughout the summer.

Summer reading program “It’s Showtime at Your Library” begins Monday, June 10, through Aug. 2 Sign up anytime, receive a calendar of events and reading program materials. Read for fun and incentives. Program is for children birth through grade 12. The library will have lots of weekly activities and programs.
Friday, June 14, at 1 p.m. "Nature Connections: Bringing Nature Alive! Raptor Program." Take a look at predator/prey relationships and the adaptations birds of prey have that make them such successful predators. We will compare raptors to other birds and learn what characteristics all birds have in common and which characteristics are unique to predators. Learn how these birds help keep a healthy balance in the environment and what you can do to ensure their health and survival. Program will include live birds. Sponsored by the Friends of the Silver Bay Public Library.
