Two Harbors Area Food Shelf (THAFS) announced a change in this summer’s plan to move to a new building on First Avenue in a press release earlier this week.
"In preparation to begin construction, it became evident the cost would be too prohibitive for the food shelf to continue moving to this location," a news release stated. "The THAFS Board of Directors and moving project team are dedicated to securing a building which meets the needs of this community and are actively pursuing other options."
The food shelf business, donation collection and food distribution will remain at the current location in the Arrowhead Economic Opportunity office building, 2124 10th St. The organization had planned to move into a new space at 517 First Ave. and had acquired a lease for the space as of May 1. It was planning to begin construction early this summer.
