Silver Bay Public Library

• Monday, Jan. 14 — Winter reading program, "Curl Up with a Good Book," begins. Children through grade 12 are welcome to sign up at any time through March 1. There will be fun activities, incentives and drawings. Sign up early and read often.

• Thursday, Jan. 17 — Author presentation Anthony Bukoski. Join us as Tony discusses his newest book, "Head of the Lakes." The program will focus on immigration and discuss how the places we live — Silver Bay, for instance — become familiar to us. The author will read a very short story about the difficulty a refugee — an outsider — faces trying to settle in a northern town. This story concerns ideas we all hold dear, no matter what languages we speak or where we've come from. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
