Duluth News Tribune file

Volunteers are needed for an Alliance for the Great Lakes Adopt-a-Beach cleanup Saturday, Sept. 15, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Burlington Bay Beach in Two Harbors.

Bring water and sunblock; food, gloves, trash bags and buckets will be provided. Also consider bringing a bucket or plastic bag to reduce the event's environmental footprint.

The maximum number of participants is listed as 30 on the event's website. Meet at Burlington Beach at 10:30 a.m. for setup. A limited number of seats are also available on a van meeting at the Great Lakes Aquarium in Duluth at 9:45 a.m.

The event, formerly known as the Minnesota Beach Sweep, is organized with support from the Great Lakes Aquarium and in partnership with the Ocean Conservancy's International Coastal Cleanup. It is the only Adopt-a-Beach event scheduled this weekend in Lake County; however, several cleanups are planned in Duluth and Superior on Sept. 15 aned 16.
