Lake County has a Fair time
An estimated 3,200 people attended the Lake County Fair in Two Harbors on Aug. 16-19, according to organizer Rachel Bailey.
"We actually broke an attendance record on Friday," Bailey said. "But then we saw less people on Saturday and Sunday, so it was about normal overall."
Bailey credits dry weather for the Fair's success.
"That never happens. It's so rare to not have it rain on us at the Fair, but it really helped," Bailey said.
McMahon, Manning named 'Outstanding Seniors'
Lake County residents Coral McMahon and Morris Manning were named winners of the 2018 Outstanding Senior Citizen Award at the Lake County Fair.
McMahon spends countless hours volunteering with Sons of Norway, the Age-to-Age program, Community Partners, Salvation Army and Bassett Church near Brimson.
Manning has dedicated hundreds of hours of volunteer work to the Northern Lake County Arts Board, Friends of Tettegouche State Park, Silver Bay Public Library, Silver Bay Strategic Planning Committee and the Clair Nelson Intermodal Transportation Center in Finland, as well as serving as an election judge in Lake County.
McMahon and Manning will represent Lake County at the Minnesota State Fair's Senior Day on Thursday, Aug. 30.
