Legion Baseball: Rivals fall twice

Lake Superior Rivals pitcher Easton Best struck out eight batters over six innings, but the effort wasn't enough as the Rivals fell to Taconite Tuesday in Two Harbors.

The Rivals lead 4-1 after three innings, but gave up five unanswered runs, including two in the top of the seventh to fall 6-4.

Lake Superior had one of it's better fielding days with just one error, but could only manage six hits and couldn't do much to capitalize on four Taconite errors.

Nick Perfetto struck six over three innings of work July 6 against West Duluth, but the Rivals again fell 12-4.

The Rivals committed three errors in the field and managed only five hits against West Duluth.

Lake Superior (2-9) played Mesabi East Thursday, too late for the News-Chronicle's deadline and will play at Taconite Tuesday.
