Prep report: Second-half goals lift Proctor boys to victory
Proctor scored three goals in the second half and kept the area's highest-scoring team off the scoreboard until the final moments in a 3-1 win over Hermantown in high school boys soccer action Monday night at Proctor.
Ian Ecklund, Aaron Opoien and Wyatt Lindberg gave the Rails (5-5-3, 3-3-1 Lake Superior Conference) a 3-0 lead before Connor Kanuit netted his 24th goal of the season in the 78th minute.
Hermantown falls to 10-4 overall and 7-3 in the LSC, meaning Duluth Marshall can retain the conference title with a win today against Proctor.
Duluth East 2, Cloquet-Esko-Carlton 1
Billy Renier broke a 1-1 tie in the second minute of the second half and give the Greyhounds the win at Public Schools Stadium.
East (9-3-2) is on a six-game unbeaten streak.
Hermantown 3, Carlton 0
The host Hawks lost only 25 total points en route to the nonconference victory.
Greenway 3, Duluth Denfeld 1
Callie Orazem had a game-high 16 kills as the visiting Raiders rebounded from losing three of four matches over the weekend to beat the Hunters in a nonconference match.
Greenway (15-4) lost three times in the Duluth East Invitational on Saturday, finishing in eighth place.
