Storm boys lose 2, tie Hayward
The North Shore Storm boys lost to Superior and North Branch last week before tying Hayward on Tuesday, Dec. 19, in Hayward.
The Spartans came out strong in the first period getting a short-handed goal at 6:34. The Storm were able to tie it back up with a Mason Meyer goal at 12:23 with assists from Chad Nordean and Logan Loiselle. Unfortunately for the Storm, that would be their only goal of the game. Superior was able to score two more goals before the end of the first period just 13 seconds apart taking 3-1 lead.
The Spartans got one more in the second and two more in the third to win the game 6-1.
Cameron Roy was in net for the Storm with 29 saves and North Shore had only 16 shots on goal.
On Saturday, Dec. 16, the North Shore boys lost to North Branch, for the second time this season, by a score of 5-1. Nate Swanson had the lone Storm goal in the second period with assists from Jake Bilben and David Anderson.
Roy was in net for the Storm with 31 saves and North Shore had 26 shots on goal.
On Tuesday, Dec. 19, the Storm tied Hayward 2-2 after eight minutes of overtime. Bilben and Cody Brandt made the goals for the Storm, both in the first period. Anderson, Cole Komarek and Ethan Sporn tallied assists. Roy was in net for the Storm with 35 saves and North Shore had 37 shots on goal.
North Shore (3-5-1) plays next in their holiday tournament starting Thursday, Dec. 28. The tournament goes through Sunday, Dec. 31, and is played in Two Harbors and Silver Bay.
