Football: Mariners sail past Bigfork

Silver Bay junior running back Mason Ollman ran for 185 yards and two touchdowns in the Mariners' 41-6 season-opening win over Bigfork on Friday, Aug. 31, in Bigfork.

Junior quarterback Riley Tiboni and senior wide receiver Peyton Westerlund also connected for three touchdowns in the victory, including on a 50-yard scoring play late in the second quarter.

Tiboni found Westerlund from 8 yards out early in the first quarter to give Silver Bay an early lead, but the Huskies' James Rousey score from 2 yards out later in the quarter to cut the lead to one after a failed two-point conversion.

In the second quarter, the Mariners exploded for 22 points, with Ollman scoring from 2 yards out and Tiboni finding Westerlund twice to give Silver Bay a 28-6 lead at halftime. Ollman would add his second touchdown in the third quarter and senior Weston Monson would score a touchdown in the fourth to put the game out of reach.

Sophomore Ero Wallin led the Silver Bay defense with s seven tackles and Monson added six in the win.

Silver Bay will face Cook County at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, in Silver Bay. The Vikings opened their season last week with a 72-0 win over Onamia.
