Two Harbors football wrap-up

Two weeks ago, the Agates football team celebrated the end of a successful season by heading to a University of Minnesota Duluth football game. Two Harbors alum Matt Wicklund plays for the Bulldogs. Wicklund is pictured with over 40 Agate players and coaches. Submitted.

Two Harbors wrapped up its season with the annual football banquet, a fantastic event organized by Chrysa Luhrsen, Ronnie Johnson, Sandy Nordean, Nikki Carpenter, Deb Omtvedt and Lorrie Kinn. Also, a thank you to Kristy Aho for all of the awesome cookies. A big thank you goes out to our fans! We had a great following throughout the season, with multiple pep busses and the great turnout at Proctor. We have the best fans and cheerleaders around!

This season was a special one as we were not expected to do much at all and ended up with a 6-4 record. We were inches from taking the lead with less than four minutes left against No. 1-seeded Proctor, but we fell just short to a very good football team. I could not be more proud of my team, coaches and town for what they did this year for the Agates football program. Our defense was greatly improved, and offensively we rushed for more than 3,000 yards as our kids stepped up big time.

The following are our award winners for the 2013 Agates football season:
