No-water-contact advisories posted for 11 North Shore beaches

The Minnesota Department of Health is recommending no contact with beach water at 11 beaches along the North Shore after water tests found elevated levels of E. coli bacteria indicating the possible presence of fecal contamination.

The beaches are:

  • Colville Creek/Beach 121 north of Grand Marais on Highway 61 at mile marker 121.
  • Paradise Beach north of Kadunce Creek.
  • Kadunce Creek Beach north of Grand Marais.
  • Durfee Creek Area Beach 5½ miles east of Grand Marais.
  • Old Shore Road Beach just north of Grand Marais.
  • Grand Marais Downtown Beach.
  • Grand Marais Campground Beach.
  • Cutface Creek Wayside Rest Beach.
  • Schroeder Town Park Beach.
  • Stewart River Beach north of Two Harbors.
  • Flood Bay Beach in Two Harbors.

    Anyone who becomes ill after contact with beach water is asked to contact the Minnesota Department of Health at (877) 366-3455.
