Letter: Nursing home experience 'a blessing'
To the editor,
We are so fortunate to have a nursing home in Two Harbors with the dedicated staff and excellent facilities to serve those who have reached that point in their life when they need assistance.
If you visit, you will be welcomed by brightly painted rocks done by staff and residents as well as colorful seasonal chalk drawings, flowers and decorations. You will immediately know that you are entering a fun, pleasant facility, and you will be right!
My mom has been there almost five years, and I have visited some part of most of those days, so I have gotten to observe the operation at many times of day. I observe the staff and residents interact in a wonderful way. The staff is caring, patient and friendly to all.
Ecumen is kept spotless and odor-free by the outstanding maintenance staff. I have visited many nursing homes and this is maintained the best by far.
This fall they sponsored a delightful barbecue with a fair-type atmosphere complete with cotton candy and a dunk tank. Fun was had by all including residents, staff and family members.
I am thankful that my mom who will be 101 in December can live out her years in the wonderful environment provided by the staff. She participates in almost every activity and is truly enjoying life. What a blessing for her and for the community!
