From Kirsten Komarek, Two Harbors

The North Shore U12 players, coaches and parents would like to send out a HUGE “Thank You” to Silver Bay and Two Harbors. Your generosity made it possible for this team to have an unforgettable weekend.

Dairy Queen and Do North ran fundraisers for the girls, with Super One allowing them to bag groceries. Folks showed up and bought many Blizzards in frigid temps and ate a lot of pizza! Do North held a complimentary pizza party for players and family. The Two Harbors City Council and Mayor Bolen invited the girls to a city council meeting, proclaiming March 13, 2014, “North Shore Girls U12 Hockey Day.”

Youth hockey, cheerleaders and families lined Highway 61 to give the girls a proper send-off. The Two Harbors police escorted out of town. The players and families were overwhelmed with appreciation. The girls had an amazing experience at the state tournament, taking home a third-place trophy!

This would not have been possible without the support they received from

Auto Value, Camp 61, CLP, Do North, DQ, Don and Gerry Graden, Haugan Construction, Holiday, the Nicklays, North Shore Bantam hockey team, North Shore Mining, Rasmussen Well Drilling, Silver Bay Blue Line Club, Sonju, Sterling Auto Parts, Super One, Sure Fab, TH Aero, Two Harbors City Council, Two Harbors Police Department, THYH and Zup’s.
