Just Kids Dental awarded grant for underserved children
Just Kids Dental (JKD) recently received a $25,000 grant from Delta Dental of Minnesota.
The grant will support JKD's "Healthy Teeth at School" program, which increases access to preventive dental services and oral health education for underserved children at schools and community sites throughout rural northeast Minnesota.
"Dental disease is the most common, chronic, childhood illness facing children today," said Stacey Anderson, executive director of JKD. "We frequently encounter children without a basic toothbrush or they are sharing one among siblings."
Anderson said the grant from Delta Dental will allow the "Healthy Teeth at School" program to expand services to more children who wouldn't have access to preventive care and education without it.
Delta Dental focuses on choosing grant recipients that show innovative strategies to expand oral health access for Minnesota's underserved populations; demonstrate significant opportunity to promote and expand preventive and education services; and show an ability to measure results.
