Best of Superior recognizes Lake County
Lake County dominated in a recent Best of Superior list. Lake Superior Magazine compiles the list annually. Sometimes, the best of are chosen by editors or staff. This year, readers made the call.
The contest had various categories, such as best restaurant and best park, which were then divided by state. Lake County was most successful in outdoors categories.
The best overlooks were Palisade Head, north of Silver Bay and Split Rock Lighthouse between Two Harbors and Silver Bay. Two Harbors took both the best boat watching and best place to paddle categories. Split Rock appeared again under best parks along with Gooseberry Falls State Park. Finally, the Superior Hiking Trail, stretching from Duluth to the Canadian border, shared the best place to hike category with Gooseberry.
The Best of the Lake issue is available now at area newsstands, bookstores and gift shops. The list is also on www.lakesuperior.com.
