After over a year of hard campaigning, a decided win, but many looming political and social issues yet to address in Congress, U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar seems to have taken David Mamet's sentiments to heart.

To welcome Minnesota guests to Washington D.C. for the inauguration of President Barack Obama, Klobuchar has planned a reception featuring Lake County's own Betty's pies. The order for two pies was received earlier in the month, but at that time no one at the restaurant and bakery just north of Two Harbors knew they were for Klobuchar.

"I think the order was placed on the seventh of January, but the order was under someone else's name, so it wasn't until Tuesday when they called to confirm the order that we knew what it was for," said Tim Anderson, supervisor at Betty's.

Sen. Klobuchar's office said she had visited Betty's on a trip to the area.

"Betty's Pies is one of the many family-owned businesses we have across Minnesota that support our communities and lift up local economies," Klobuchar said. "I'm looking forward to serving their Great Lakes Fruit Pie from Two Harbors for our guests to enjoy at this open house."

The reception was held Sunday and in addition to pies, Klobuchar served a wide variety of Minnesota made victuals to her guests.

"We had... potica and pasties from the Range, lefse, kolaches, Buffalo sausage, Angie's Kettle Corn, SPAM puffs and lots more. We also had beautiful red, white and blue cake pops from Taylor'd Cakes in Lake Wilson," she said.
