The Rock Solid Robotics team from Two Harbors has qualified for the state tournament.

FIRST, the organization behind robotics, ranks all the teams in the state based on their performances in regional competitions. Two Harbors ranked 12th of 186 teams in Minnesota, qualifying them to play in the state tournament on May 17. The Silver Bay Mariners ranked 142nd.

The North Shore students – 17 each in Silver Bay and Two Harbors – worked six weeks during the winter to build competitive robots for their early March regional competition in Duluth. The teams competed in alliances of three to score goals using a large exercise ball on either end of a court, a space about half the size of a basketball court.

The Two Harbors team will compete at Williams Arena at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities with the other top 30 teams in the state.
