Finland News: July 18

Judy Martell and Ruth Himes visited with Eleanor Elmstrom on Thursday in Forest Lake. Eleanor reported that she is healing well from her injuries in a fall she had taken earlier.

Deepest sympathy goes out to the family and friends of Heather Peterson. Heather died on Monday, July 7. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, July 12 at the Clair Nelson Center.

On Sunday afternoon, there was a gathering at the Slades up the shore. Locals that attended from Finland were Judy Martell, Ruth Himes, Gary and Nancy Olson, Dale, Joretta, Tom Nikula, Lori Driscoll, Ric and Diane Lindberg and Bob and Gary Nikolai. Workers in the early days from Finland were Toivo Kalander, Del Himes, Ed Nikula, Charlie Mattson, Wayne Tikkanen, Ted Simington and Erwin Nikolai.

Enjoy delicious pie, sponsored by Zion Lutheran Church Women Saturday from at 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Clair Nelson Center.

Then, take in the 30th Annual Finland Wooden Bat Tournament at Gregg Field. It will be held Saturday and Sunday starting at 8 a.m. Plenty of food and refreshments will be served.  There will also be the T-shirts and mugs for sale. Come out and support the Finland Fire Department.
