Lakeview Liquor open for business
The new liquor store in Castle Danger officially opened for business this month.
Lakeview Liquor, located at 2777 Highway 61 next to Rustic Inn Cafe, had a soft opening on May 5. Its hours of operation will be 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday with extended hours during the tourist season. According to owner Tim Phillips, once allowed to he plans on the store being opened from the legals sale times of 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The first day of legal Sunday sales was set for July 2 after the Minnesota Legislature voted to lift the 159-year-old ban on Sunday liquor sales.
Customers of Lakeview Liquor are able to purchase beer, wine, liquor, soda, ice and many other items found at a typical liquor store. Phillips said he hopes to have wine tasting events during the summer and tourist season, so those waiting for a table at Rustic Inn can have some wine before lunch or dinner.
Lakeview Liquor has taken over the building that housed Fat-N-Happy’s Thrift Store, and yes, Phillips did renovate the building.
“People have come in thinking that I may be bulldozed the old building,” he said. “That’s a good feeling as an owner to hear that.”
