'Sweep the Skunk' event returns for third year
The Lake County Soil and Water Conservation District and Castle Danger Brewery will host the third annual "Sweep the Skunk Creek" cleanup event April 30 in Two Harbors.
Last year, SWCD volunteers collected more than 600 pounds of trash and this year the hope is to double that total. The cleanup will begin at noon at the Lake County SWCD office, 408 First Avenue.
Light refreshments will be served and trash bags and gloves will be distributed before volunteers head out to pick up trash along Skunk Creek, which flows through downtown Two Harbors and into Burlington Bay. Full trash bags can be left at any intersection in town, and the city will provide pick-up the following week.
At 2 p.m., volunteers will convene at Castle Danger Brewery to enjoy a complimentary beverage as well as pizza.
