Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center hosts two events
A Bevy of Brews & a Kettle of Fish Wolf Ridge fundraiser, Dec. 6
The Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center's second annual North Shore-area fundraiser, "A Bevy of Brews & A Kettle of Fish", will be held Dec. 6 from 6-9 p.m. at the Great Lakes Aquarium in Duluth.
As the name implies, the event will focus on the great many tasty brews made by brewers in Duluth and on the North Shore. Bent Paddle Brewing Company, Fitger's Brewhouse, Lake Superior Brewing Company, Carmody's Irish Brewpub, Castle Danger Brewery, and Canal Park Brewing Company will all have stations where event attendees can sample fine ales and lagers. The hors d' oeuvres will once again be provided by Splashing Rock restaurant and Upper Lakes Foods, and attendees can expect some great live jazz by the Randy Lee Ensemble.
There will be raffle tickets available along with silent and live auctions featuring great getaways and locally-made outdoor gear. The auction will again be hosted by KBJR's Michelle Lee and auctioneer Gary Kovanen.
Proceeds will go to the Wolf Ridge School Scholarship Fund and toward the general operation of the center. Last year's event raised over $42,000 and was a key source of the more than $38,000 provided to area schools in the way of school scholarship support - a figure roughly twice that of the previous year!
Thanks to generous sponsorship support by area businesses, half of this year's ticket price will go to the scholarship fund. So even if you can't make it, buy a ticket, pass it on to a friend and know that you have helped send a student to Wolf Ridge.
Tickets are $35 in advance and $45 at the door. More information is available online at wolf-ridge.org and tickets can be purchased by calling the Wolf Ridge office at 1-800-523-2733.
