Tyler “Loaf” McMillen as Loafelia Chainsaw was crowned 2014 Miss Helmi Friday evening. She did an amazing moose call that really won over the judges. Emcees Pat Ramsdell and Own Klinker did another outstanding job and all the contestants did really well.

As always, the Finland Historical Society’s pancake breakfast was the place to be to start the day Saturday morning. The Our Place team won the tug- of- war across the bridge. The parade was amazing and the sun was shining, but cold. People really appreciated the music on Saturday afternoon at the multiple venues –Tara Nelson at the Four Seasons, the Curry Band at Our Place and Teresa and Terri at the Clair Nelson Center. It gave people something nice to do after the parade.

Sunday the raffle drawing was held at Our Place. Winners were:

$600 – Gary Evans of Marshall, Minn.

$300 – Jonathan Beauchane of Minneapolis, Minn.

$200 – Rick Kiegel of St. Paul, Minn.

$100 – Harvey Bosiacki, Finland, Minn.

$100 – Erica Borson, Schroeder, Minn.

Stephanie Ferretti won the pool party at the AmericInn.
