Get well wishes go out to Mike Nikula. Mike had surgery at Abbott Northwestern Spine Center in Minneapolis on Tuesday, Feb. 11, returning home on Friday, Feb. 14. He reports that he is doing well and feeling good. Mike would like to say thank you for all the prayers and thoughts during this time.

Congratulations to Matt King and Melanie Nikula on their marriage February 6.

Friends of the Finland Community are accepting applications for the Clair Nelson Scholarship. This is for high school seniors and adults going into the trade/ vocational fields. The deadline is March 1, 2014. Visit for an application.

There was a great turnout at the 10th annual Arrowhead Vintage Snowmobile Rendezvous on Saturday. The event was sponsored by the Finland Snowmobile ATV Club and was held at Wildhurst. Sixty-four sleds were registered. The award for the oldest sled went to Tom Hoverson, Rogers, Minn. The first sled towed went to Terry and Aurora Ramsdell, Silver Bay and the second oldest sled to finish belonged to Al Tuorila, Finland. Farthest traveled were Mike and Diane Lapel of Somerset, Wis. The People’s Choice award went to Chelsey Johnson, Elk River and first wipe-out went to Jeff Unger
