North Shore Library News: Feb. 14

Silver Bay Public Library News

The Arrowhead Library System, through money commissioned by Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Legacy Fund, has worked with public libraries and artists to create permanent works of art for the public to enjoy. On the waiting list since 2011, the Silver Bay Public Library was notified late in May, 2013 that it would be next! Painter and muralist, Dale Knaffla, Jr., created and painted four paintings depicting North Shore wildlife and natural history with custom framing by Megan Billings Photography. The paintings are now on display inside the Silver Bay Public Library. Some of the other artwork in the Arrowhead Library System may be viewed at:

Don’t forget Friday fun days!

Friday, Feb. 21 at 11:00 a.m., join us for Animals in Winter. Could you survive this very cold winter in the wild? How are our wild friends managing? Are they asleep or awake? What are they eating? Should you bring them groceries? Come to the library with your questions and your animal senses and let’s find out.

Don’t forget to love your Library

February is “Love Your Library” month. You can love your library all year long by making donations whenever it’s easiest for you. Do let us know how we can improve our relationship with you. Our comments book on the front desk is always open.

Two Harbors Public Library News

The library will be closed Monday, Feb. 17, in honor of Presidents’ Day.

On Thursday, Feb. 27, from 5 – 7 p.m., the Friends of the Two Harbors Public Library will be hosting an Art Reception for Nancy Miller and Tonja Sell, the creators of the mixed media masterpiece that now resides above the fireplace in the Carnegie building. This will be the public’s chance to finally meet the artists in person, ask about the artistic process and this particular picture’s creation, and learn about the meaning of all the different little nuances that are hidden throughout the creation. This is going to be the Friends of the Library’s Love Your Library event, and refreshments will be served.

The library just received another batch of museum passes. Stop by the library and then visit some of our local attractions for free!
