Silver Bay Public Library News

Once upon a time you opened a book and read from pages. They smelled like ink and papery wood. They were bright, colorful and big enough to share with a lap-full of warm children. Some of them were tucked-in beside you. Anxious little ones tried to roll the corner of the page to see what was next. Still others liked to draw and write in the books to create a story of their own. Our heads were filled with dragons, beanstalks, talking mice, an old woman who kept her children in a shoe, a boy who dreamed of being a prince and became a king. Children to whom stories are read, become readers. Readers become leaders. It is a gift both to the child and the reader. Don't let books become a thing of the past. At the library our shelves are still full of wonderful imaginings. Bring in your child, or your past child. You can take home a bag full of all the things you want to be.
