Silver Bay Public Library News:

Ladies and Gentlemen, start your engines! Make sure all of your spring and summer motors are in tip-top shape with the great variety of maintenance and repair manuals your library has to offer. Whether you have an axe to grind to a nice sharp edge, or a mower that needs a new starter, we have the books and online databases to help you do the job. Do you ride a motorcycle, mountain, BMX or road bike? Your library offers maintenance and repair manuals for your favorite mode of two-wheeled transportation. Maybe you would rather get there by boat. If it uses a motor, we have the maintenance and repair information for inboard and outboard engines as well. If it's simply time to replace that battered piece of equipment, we have consumer information to help you make the right decision on a new or used replacement. If it all seems like too much - or better left to someone else to fix - then of course you can always go off and fly kites. Naturally, your library has all the best ideas on how to help you launch that project too.

A sampling of new books available for checkout:

• Storyteller, by Jody Picoult

• Obituary writer, by Anne Hood

• Breaking Point, by C.J. Box

• Betty goes vegan, by Annie Shannon

• Short nights of the shadow catcher, by Timothy Egan

• Investing in real-estate, by Jinan Jaber

Two Harbors Public Library News:

Have you heard about how the "Clean Water, Land, & Legacy" amendment affects your library? Well, it helped create Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. This fund is used to support local culture, both by funding artists and by giving the public opportunities to experience the arts. This is how your local library is able to give away free museum passes, tickets to local performances , including the DSSO performance on April 20 , and to bring in performers such as award winning poet Ryan Vine (April 20 at 1:00 p.m.) and the Minnesota Historical Society's History Players (April 25 at 6:30 p.m.). If you'd like to help keep these programs going, then spread the good word!
