Lois Oberg, a resident of Bay View Terrace, is surprised to see all the food delivered to her friends and neighbors through the Health-in-a-Box program. Oberg is also a program participant.
In January, the Two Harbors Area Food Shelf, in partnership with Community Partners, initiated the Health in a Box home delivery service for seniors living in Bay View and Harbor Point residences. Hoping to enhance access to nutritious foods for seniors living on limited incomes or with transportation limitations, volunteers from the food shelf delivered boxes of food to 37 residents on Saturday, March 15.
Volunteers deliver food once a month. If you are interested in volunteering with the program, please contact Jan at 834-2539.
This is an important month for food shelves. It’s time for the March Campaign. All cash donations are partially matched by Minnesota Food Share, so your dollar goes further in feeding hungry neighbors.
