Silver Bay police chief steps down
Silver Bay Police Chief Mitch Dow has submitted his resignation. The announcement was made at the Lake County Board of Commissioners agenda meeting on Tuesday. By press time, little more information was available about Dow’s decision or the City’s plans going forward.
Out of respect for Dow, said city administrator Lana Fralich, “there will be no comment until the council sees and accepts the resignation. It is on the agenda for Monday night.”
The Silver Bay City Council will hold its regular bimonthly meeting on April 7 at 7 p.m. at the Silver Bay City Hall.
Dow was hired as a police officer by the City in August 2006, and was promoted to the chief effective April 3, 2012. His resignation leaves the department down by one, just weeks after the council voted to advertise for a part-time officer position. Fralich said that the department is currently under-staffed and needs additional personnel. Two or three additional part-time officers would be ideal, she said in February. The department is currently staffed by three part-time and four full-time officers.
As more information is available, the Lake County News-Chronicle will update this story.
