Service officer's call: Feb. 7

From N.V. Sando

February is here, and if we survive the cold (and we will), I’d like to remind everyone that one of my continuing goals is to raise awareness among veterans of the importance of getting vital records, veteran records, and any other documents in order. Keep them in a place where dependents or survivors can find them easily. It’s not enough to say: “If I die, just go see a service officer.” Why make your survivors suffer? A service officer can’t help without your documents. Also, plan for your final disposition; it’s inevitable, although all of us hope for later rather than sooner. Your Veterans Service Office can advise you. Just ask.
